Fuel pipeline to OR Tambo contaminated
Airports Company South Africa says OR Tambo is left with a day and a half worth of fuel.
JOHANNESBURG - Airports Company South Africa (Acsa) on Thursday said OR Tambo International Airport is left with only a day and a half worth of fuel after a pipeline was contaminated.
The company said 7 million litres of fuel in storage is unusable after it emerged that the National Petroleum Refineries of South Africa line in Sasolburg had been contaminated.
Acsa spokesperson Solomon Makgale said, "At this point in time, there is absolutely no impact on airport operations. People who are booked for flights today can come to the airport.
"We will operate as normal," he added.
