What is the DA's big coup?
Speculation is mounting about which former ANC member is going to join the DA today.
JOHANNESBURG - Speculation is mounting about which former ANC member is going to join the Democratic Alliance (DA) on Tuesday, after the opposition party said it was expecting a high-profile move.
But the party will not say who the person is.
The DA says its new member is a former ANC premier and national executive committee member; that makes both Congress of the People (COPE) leader Mosiuoa Lekota and former COPE member Mbhazima Shilowa eligible - but it does not appear at this stage that it is either of them.
Current Tourism Minister Marthinus van Schalkwyk may also a possibility, but his history with the opposition party makes that unlikely.
Officials say they will make the name public at around lunch time today.
Shilowa took to Twitter on Monday to distance himself from rumours linking him to the DA.
