Thousands attend Linkin Park concert

Linkin Park has thanked the thousands of fans that braced the rain to come to their show in Soweto.

Linkin Park has thanked the thousands of fans that braced the rain to come to their show in Soweto.

JOHANNESBURG - Despite the threat of stormy weather; 63,000 Linkin Park fans packed the FNB Stadium in Soweto on Saturday night.

Linkin Park's Mike Shinoda told the crowd their response was magical.

"This crowd has been so energetic to every single song."

The group performed all the hits from the hard rock songs to the softer ballads.

The U.S. band paid tribute to the woman who died and 11 who were hospitalised when the scaffolding of an advertising board, outside the Cape Town Stadium, collapsed before their show on Wednesday.

Meanwhile, an investigation into the Cape Town incident is currently underway.

City officials have appointed an independent company to investigate the matter.
