LIMPOPO - Basic Education Minister Angie Motshekga on Thursday said her department will receive daily updates on the delivery status of next year's textbooks for Limpopo.

Motshekga inspected the warehousing and distribution process of textbooks for the province.

Earlier this year rights group Section27 took the department to court after it emerged that a number of schools had not received learning material - months into the academic year.

Mothsekga said the 2013 high tech textbook delivery service will provide her office with daily updates of deliveries.

"We have adopted this system which tracks all facets of the delivery process allowing us to have real-time information on the progress."

Each textbook will be tagged with special barcodes which allows the system to monitor its whereabouts at any given moment.

Government appointed UTi Couriers who have already began delivering and hope to complete by mid-December.
