CAPE TOWN - Three children have been discharged from hospital after sustaining injuries on Guy Fawkes Day.

Six children were admitted to Cape Town's Tygerberg and Red Cross Children's Hospitals on Monday.

Most of them sustained injuries to their hands and faces.

Health Department spokesperson Mark van der Heever says one adult was badly injured.

"We believe that the man sustained injuries when somebody threw a firecracker into his shop. The patient sustained 70 percent burns to his body."
