‘Baby bashers’ to be sentenced
Nolan Schoeman and Marissa Rudman will be sentenced for the murder of Baby Wade.
PRETORIA - The sentencing of the Pretoria parents who beat their two-month old son to death is expected to be heard in the North Gauteng High Court on Monday.
Nolan Schoeman and Marissa Rudman were in August convicted of the 2009 murder of Baby Wade.
Judge Cynthia Pretorius is expected to hand down a tough sentence.
In her verdict, she said Rudman had a responsibility to protect her son but instead, she covered up for the man who killed him.
Pretorius accepted evidence that Rudman's partner and father of the boy, Schoeman, punched the child in the head.
Medical evidence showed that despite the head trauma, the little boy had previously sustained broken arms and rib fractures.
