Our iWitness Laurence Brady sent us this report and photo:

The Durbanville police surrendered on Thursday 25 October 2012, but to who nobody knows.

The national flag was flown upside down for the whole day. When asked, a policeman said it was an instruction from the Minister supposedly because of the recent death of 5 policeman killed in the Western Province.

A flag flown upside down is normally a sign of surrender.
