On Saturday 27 October 2012, expelled miners scattered in all directions after police fired on them with rubber bullets and teargas.
The police said they had been negotiating with them since the morning to disperse as the venue was booked for a Cosatu rally.
The miners started pelting stones at Cosatu marchers which triggered the police to fire at them.
A man who was wearing a black t-shirt was rescued by the Cosatu leaders from being beaten by marchers. He was later arrested.
