Western Cape Traffic Director Kenny Africa.

CAPE TOWN - Five people, including a baby, were killed in an accident on the N2 highway between Knysna and Plettenberg Bay on Saturday night.

Western Cape traffic officials said a vehicle collided head on with a truck.

"The Honda vehicle overtook another vehicle and collided head on with the truck," said traffic chief Kenny Africa.

"All five occupants in the Honda motor vehicle died in the accident - three men, one woman and a three-month-old baby."

Africa said the driver of the truck was also injured.

"The driver of the truck and a passenger in the vehicle were seriously injured.

"The road was closed for a couple of hours."
