Fire breaks out at HSBC building

According to witnesses, the blaze started on the 5th floor of the HSBC building.

JOHANNESBURG - There was panic for a few minutes after a fire broke out at a building near the Johannesburg Stock Exchange (JSE) in Sandton, north of Johannesburg.

According to witnesses, the blaze started on the 5th floor of the HSBC building.

Nobody was injured in the blaze.

An ambulance and several fire trucks were sent to the scene.

There was confusion as employees were evacuated from the building.

It is believed the fire was started by a loose cable connection, but an investigation is now underway to determine the exact cause.
