SARS makes R7m drug bust
SARS has arrested an alleged smuggler from South America, with drugs to the value of R7 million.
JOHANNESBURG - The South African Revenue Service (SARS) has uncovered three kilograms of drugs worth an estimated value of more than R7 million.
SARS said the suspected smuggler, who was arrested on Monday, allegedly tried to smuggle the cocaine from South America.
SARS' spokesperson Adrian Lackay said authorities found eleven kilograms of cocaine in the possession of another suspect earlier on.
"At customs, we have to develop a capability with other law enforcement and police to ensure that we can detect such instances of smuggling."
