Casual post workers on strike in PTA
Mail distribution in and around Pretoria has come to a halt because of an illegal work stoppage.
PRETORIA - Mail distribution in and around Pretoria has come to a halt because of an illegal work stoppage by casual workers at the Post Office's Tshwane hub.
Workers downed tools at the beginning of October, preventing almost all mail from going on to its final destination, due to a dispute over working hours.
Angry clients have taken to consumer websites to vent their frustration because they are not getting any meaningful responses from the Post Office.
Officials could not be reached for comment, but a statement on the Post Office's website confirms the illegal strike.
Management says contingency plans are being implemented to address the backlog, but there is no indication when the strike will end.
