Video footage catches cheating in the act
Candidates caught cheating on their leaner's licence were barred from trying again.
JOHANNESBURG - The Mpumalanga government on Sunday said it had cancelled 39 learner licences, following video footage showing an examiner and a technician helping candidates at the Mhala testing centre.
The province's Community Safety Department said the officials, who have been given an opportunity to explain the actions, were released from their duties.
It said CCTV technology will now be gradually extended to other testing stations in the province to fight corruption.
The department's Joseph Mabuza said such irregularities will not be tolerated.
“The 39 applicants will no longer get their learners licences and they will be barred from getting licences for the next 12 months.
“The official has been removed from the station.”
