CAPE TOWN - Western Province coach Allister Coetzee has called on veteran scrumhalf Bolla Conradie as cover for Saturday's Currie Cup semi-final against the Lions.

With the Province's under-21 side also in action this weekend, Coetzee left nothing to chance by ensuring he has sufficient back up at number nine.

The coach said Conradie provided much needed experience in the squad, but said the player was only on loan for the playoffs.

Coetzee also said he was more than satisfied with Scarra Ntubeni starting at hooker.

Springbok hooker Tiaan Liebenberg was ruled out of the clash with a back injury.

Lock Andries Bekker is also out with a toe injury.

Coetzee said he will stick with Ntubeni at number two and will not consider shifting Deon Fourie to hooker.

"We don't want to make a fruitcake. Deon has been excellent as an open-side flanker."

The coach said Ntubeni had performed well in the games he had played so far.
