Madonsela denies allegations of misconduct
Thuli Madonsela has denied any wrongdoing, saying the latest allegations against her are untrue.
JOHANNESBURG - Public Protector Thuli Madonsela on Monday described allegations of misconduct levelled against her as "laughable", saying she would not allow them to distract her from her work
Her deputy Mamiki Shai claims that Madonsela changed findings on a report into the Democratic Alliance-led Midvaal Municipality and deliberately withheld its release until after municipal elections had been held.
Madonsela said she finds it odd that Shai is highlighting that specific report, as it is one of her office's most in-depth investigations.
"I think those accusations are laughable."
Madonsela said she is willing to cooperate with any investigations into her alleged misconduct.
Meanwhile, Shai told Talk Radio 702 she was sure of the truth of her allegations and called for Parliament to intervene.
"The statement is true and Parliament should perhaps investigate the issue."
Madonsela has been applauded for her work in recent months.
She has investigated former ANC Youth League president Julius Malema and police lease deals, among others.
