Zuma attempts to rally the troops
Jacob Zuma was spotted having a private meeting with Fikile Mbalula prompting analysts to give opinion.
JOHANNESBURG - A political analyst claimed on Sunday that the country can expect to see many more private meetings between President Jacob Zuma and some individuals in the African National Congress (ANC) as the party heads for its elective conference later this year.
The City Press reported that Zuma was spotted at Luthuli House, where he and Sports and Recreation Minister Fikile Mbalula had lengthy one on one discussions.
There are currently two camps in the run up to Mangaung.
Mbalula has been linked to support for Deputy President Kgalema Motlanthe.
Analyst Adam Habib said this has happened before.
“I think there’s going to be attempts by all factions to woo individuals from either side.
“We've seen it before in the run up to Polokwane and it’s the normal part of the process that happens within the ANC.”
