JOHANNESBURG - Western Province secured their spot in the Currie Cup semi finals, after a convincing 36-15 win over the Cheetahs at Newlands on Saturday.

Province outscored the visitors by five tries to two, securing the third spot on the final log standings and setting up a semi-final against the Lions in Johannesburg next week.

Coach Allister Coetzee said he was pleased with the manner in which his side performed.

"Just the way we played as a team was really pleasing so [we face] another big challenge against the Lions at Ellis Park, one that we are looking forward to."

Coetzee said they were now quickly shifting focus to the semi final clash against the current champions.

"We better get the preparation right and make sure that we have 22 fit guys going out there that play to their potential."
