Police have welcomed the sentence handed down to a convicted rapist in the Southern Cape.
CAPE TOWN - Police on Friday welcomed the sentence handed down to a convicted rapist in the Southern Cape.
Sibusiso Ntekiso was on Thursday sentenced to life in prison for two rapes in Mossel Bay in 2011.
His victims were a 26-year-old woman and an 11-year-old girl.
The police's Bernadine Steyn said he was also sentenced on other counts related to the incidents.
"He was also sentenced to 10 years imprisonment for robbery, 12 years for attempted murder, 12 months for sexual assault."
Steyn said they are satisfied with the outcome.
"Crimes against women and children are high on our agenda and we will do everything possible to ensure those who perpetrate crime against them are prosecuted in a court of law."
