'Frustrating year for Goosen'

Cheetahs Coach Naka Drotské says flyhalf Johan Goosen has had a tough year due to serious injuries.

Cheetahs player Johan Goosen has had a tough year due to two serious injuries.

CAPE TOWN - Cheetahs Coach Naka Drotské on Tuesday said it has been a frustrating year for Johan Goosen.

The flyhalf had surgery on his knee ligament tear earlier.

Goosen started the season well but a shoulder injury kept him out of the game.

He then returned to the Cheetahs and was called-up to the Springboks, but picked up the knee injury.

Drotské said it is the nature of the game.

"It must have been a frustrating year for him. He had an awesome Super 15 and then he dislocated his shoulder against the Highlanders. It is unfortunate, but it is part of the game."

The Cheetahs will take on Western Province in the Currie Cup on Saturday.

They are currently second from bottom in the log.
