ANC regions nominate veterans
It appears several names from the ANC’s past could re-enter frontline politics.
JOHANNESBURG - It appears several names from the ANC's past could re-enter frontline politics.
Over the weekend, the Mpumalanga ANC nominated Cyril Ramaphosa as deputy ANC leader, while the Gauteng ANC nominated Joel Netshitenze as one of its candidates for secretary-general.
Political analyst Sipho Seepe on Monday said Netshitenze had been very critical of the current leadership of the party.
He said he had become a voice within the party that was able to use his experience to attack the ANC's downfalls.
ANC delegates will in December elect new leadership during its Mangaung conference.
President Jacob Zuma and his deputy Kgalema Motlanthe are currently leading the pack for the top job.
