CAPE TOWN - City officials on Monday managed to remove a dead whale from Capricorn Beach near Muizenberg.

The carcass of the Southern Right whale washed up on the beach on Sunday evening.

A small crowd of curious onlookers gathered at the scene braving the gusty winds.

Four bulldozers were used to remove the carcass.

The City of Cape Town says it will have to take samples of the whale to establish what led to its death.
