Three children die in collision
A head on collision caused the children to be flung from the vehicle.
JOHANNESBURG - Three children were killed while three other people were injured in an accident on the R550 in Kliprivier, south of Johannesburg on Saturday afternoon.
Paramedics confirmed two cars collided head on, resulting in two children being flung from one of the vehicles.
Netcare 911's Chris Botha said the cause of the accident will be investigated.
"When we arrived there we found that two kids were believed to have been ejected from the vehicle.
"They tragically died on the scene due to the extensive injuries they sustained.
"A third child sustained serious injuries, medics tried to resuscitate the child on the scene but the child also died."
Another 35 people were injured in a separate accident involving a taxi and a bus on the K43 in Lenasia.
ER 24's Derrick Banks said it was not clear who was at fault but local authorities are investigating the incident.
"ER 24 paramedics along with other emergency personnel arrived on the scene and found the taxi partially underneath the bus with very severe damage to both vehicles.
"35 people were treated for various injuries."
