ANCWL 'supports' current leadership
The ANC Women's League says it his happy with the ruling party’s leadership for now.
JOHANNESBURG - The ANC Women's League on Friday threw its support behind the current top three leaders in the ruling party, ahead of the ANC's national conference in Mangaung.
Women's league president Angie Motshekga has led the discussion among chairpersons of provinces.
Consensus among seven of the nine provinces is that Jacob Zuma, Kgalema Motlanthe and Gwede Mantashe remain in their positions.
The league's Troy Martens said, "Nothing has been finalised. This has still to go back to region and they will discuss it."
Limpopo and Gauteng are the only two provinces which have not made their preferences known yet.
Meanwhile, the ANC Youth League has made it clear that they want change in the ruling party.
The league wants Motlanthe to replace Zuma as party president.
They also want their former president Fikile Mbalula to replace Mantashe as secretary general.
The conference will take place in December.
