JOHANNESBURG - Enough has been done to ensure no leaking of Matric exam question papers, Umalusi said on Tuesday.

The quality assurer said the Mpumalanga province was prone to leakages in the past, but said security had since intensified in the region.

Senior manager of Umalusi, Vijayen Naidoo, said they body could not do much to prevent exam paper leakages, but conduct a regular checkup on security systems.

"Your weakest link, no matter where in the chain it is, will be your problem.

"We believe we have quite a stringent and rigid security mechanism in place."

Naidoo said reports of leakages had not been reported in the past two years.

About 620 grade 12 students are expected to write their national senior certificate exams next month, and Umalusi said they were ready.
