Mangaung numbers put Zuma on top
ANC's determination of delegates for Mangaung shows President Jacob Zuma is in the lead.
JOHANNESBURG - The ANC's final determination of delegates for Mangaung appears to be more evidence that President Jacob Zuma is in the lead.
The final figures show the bulk of the delegates will come from KwaZulu-Natal and the Eastern Cape, which have both said they will back Zuma for another term.
Together, the Eastern Cape and KwaZulu-Natal will have over 1,500 of the 4,500 delegates who will be attending the conference.
The Free State ANC is also expected to put its 324 delegates behind Zuma.
Gauteng's 500 delegates appear to be still be up for grabs.
But Limpopo, with its 574 votes appears to be campaigning hard against Zuma.
It seems however, the anti-Zuma campaign will have to fight hard to get the remaining provinces to back deputy president Kgalema Motlanthe.
The ANC holds its national elective conference in Mangaung this December.
