JOHANNEBSURG - Reiger Park police in Boksburg are on Tuesday still searching for a man who shot an 18-year-old in the face with a shotgun at the weekend.

The victim, believed to be associated with the Sour Boyz gang, was killed in an area known as 'Excuse Me'.

The young man, whose name is known to Eyewitness News was shot while sitting in a car in the Excuse Me suburb with two friends.

Locals told Eyewitness News that the murder was the result of a clash with rival gang the Terribles.

Despite these claims, police do not believe the attack was gang related.

Police spokesperson Joop Joubert said authorities believe the incident was an isolated one.

He said the two friends who were with the victim fled the murder scene, so police are hopeful further investigations will reveal the motive for the murder.

No arrests had yet been made on Tuesday morning.

Earlier this year, three people were killed in Reiger Park gang violence.
