CAPE TOWN - Western Cape Local Government MEC Anton Bredell has yet to receive any formal documentation calling for the axing of a controversial Khayelitsha councillor, he said on Friday.

The City of Cape Town found Andile Lili guilty of participating in the illegal demolition of homes and making derogatory remarks towards a Khayelitsha resident.

Bredell said he is still waiting for the document of the case.

"The council will obviously send the disciplinary hearing document to my department. We will then give the councillor 21 days to defend himself."

Meanwhile, Lili said he will not going down without fight.

"There's no way that the City of Cape Town can tell me that I'm not fit for the office whereas my own organisation believes in me."
