Man killed in suspected gang shooting
A Delft man was shot six times on Sunday night in an apparent gang related shooting.
CAPE TOWN - Police are appealing for information about a suspected gang shooting in Delft during the early hours of Sunday morning.
The victim has not been identified because his next of kin were not yet informed.
The killing has renewed fears of an upsurge in gang violence.
Police spokesperson November Philander said the victim was shot six times.
"Shots were fired at the suspect who was standing in a Delft street. The information about what actually happened remains unclear."
He said police have appealed for information.
"There were no witnesses at this stage. Police were informed about the shooting at 4:20 am in the Delft street and acted immediately. They arrived to find the suspect dead on the scene."
No arrests have yet been made.
Another man, 20-year-old Rashied Fortune, was also murdered in Manenberg over the weekend.
