Suspected killers appear in court
The state intends opposing the bail application of the suspects accused of killing a Brackenfell man.
CAPE TOWN - The state on Monday said it will oppose the bail application of four suspects accused of killing a Brackenfell man after he advertised his car on Gumtree.
The suspects, who posed as potential buyers, reportedly killed Olwyn Cowley about two weeks ago.
They appeared briefly in the Mitchells Plain Magistrate's Court and face several charges, including murder.
It was their second court appearance since being arrested in connection with the murder.
The 21-year-old's body was found at Monwabisi Beach, a day after he allegedly met the accused at a Century City garage.
The men had apparently shown interest in buying his silver BMW.
The magistrate postponed the matter to next Tuesday, in order to allow time for the office of public prosecutions to take over the case.
A date will be also be set for bail applications.
The men are being held in Pollsmoor Prison.
