JOHANNESBURG - Blue bulls coach Pine Pienaar on Wednesday said Francois Hougaard could solve the Springbok problems at wing.

Hougaard shifts to the left wing for the Test match against Australia in Perth on Saturday in place of Lwazi Mvovo, with Ruan Pienaar taking over the scrumhalf duties.

Pienaar said Hougaard has enough experience at wing to make a difference in the Boks' performance this weekend.

"When he played wing for the Springboks and the Bulls, he was really exceptional. He's a player that has the x-factor. I back the Springboks because I think they've really got a quality side, so we're looking forward to see what they are going to bring against Australia."

Meanwhile, many rugby fans took to Twitter to voice their disapproval at coach Heyneke Meyer's decision to drop Mvovo from the squad.

Rian Maree wrote, "How Meyer can pick Hougaard ahead of Mvovo is pathetic ..."

Ntsika Msuthu said, "Francois Hougaard, picked as a scrumhalf and failed. But because they want to keep him in the system, quality like Mvovo is sacrificed."

Raaeq Gamieldien tweeted, "Even though I believe that Hougie is a much better wing than scrumhalf, he doesn't deserve his place on the wing over Mvovo!"
