Chiefs unfazed by Masilela's injury

JOHANNESBURG - ABSA Premiership log leaders Kaizer Chiefs on Wednesday said Tsepo Masilela's sudden surgery will not have a great impact on the team's game plan.

Amakhosi fans will have to wait a little while longer to see the left-back in action, as he had to go under the knife following the discovery of appendicitis during his medical.

He will be out of action for at least four weeks, the team said.

Kaizer Chiefs's spokesperson Vina Maphosa said Masilela was gutted by the ailment but said the show must go on.

"He's not happy because he was looking forward to don the gold and black. But (coach Stuart Baxter's) plans won't be disrupted by the injury."

Maphosa says there is enough depth to cover Masilela's position in the team.

"Jimmy Jumbo and Keegan Ritchie have been doing well in that position."

Amakhosi have not yet lost a game this season.

The face the Black Leopards next on 15 September.
