JOHANNESBURG - Orlando Pirates winger Daine Klate on Tuesday said Gordon Igesund's approach to select the best performing players at club level is a motivator.

He has been omitted from the Bafana Bafana squad to face Brazil in Sao Paulo along with a number of his teammates at Pirates, who are Bafana regulars.

The 27-year-old said he is not desponded and is confident he will get a call up soon.

Klate wished the current Bafana squad well.

"I think we are all expecting things to improve in the national team. Hopefully things will start looking up."

Klate said the fact that Benni McCarthy is back in the Bafana squad, even though it was by virtue of injuries to Siyabonga Nomvethe and Edward Manqele, shows that Igesund rewards hard work.

"He's a good motivator on and off the field. He has a lot of experience and he also speaks Portuguese which will help a lot. It's good to see him back in that national squad. He's worked hard in the past year."

Kickoff is at 8:45pm local time on Friday.
