WC govt. must take us seriously - ANCYL

The ANC Youth League say the WC govt. must begin to take them more seriously.

CAPE TOWN - The ANC Youth League and its affiliates said on Tuesday the Western Cape government must start taking them seriously.

The ANCYL lead a protest march to the Provincial Legislature on Tuesday as part of its campaign for better services in poor areas.

Western Cape Economic Development MEC Alan Winde had the unenviable job of receiving the memorandum amid a chorus of booing from marchers.

The crowd wanted Western Cape Premier Helen Zille to collect the document.

However, Zille said she would only do so if the ANCYL publicly retracted its threats to make the City of Cape Town ungovernable.

Speakers addressing the crowd seemed to steer away from such remarks.

But ANCYL's Magdalene Moonsamy was fiery.

"If she is serving the people of the Western Cape , where is she?"

The ANCYL has vowed to stage a protest on the 27 of each month, until its demands are met.
