Federation is under attack - Cosatu
Cosatu believes the federation is the victim of an organised plan.
JOHANNESBURG - The Congress of South African Trade Unions (Cosatu) claimed on Friday, the events surrounding the Marikana mine shooting demonstrates that the federation is under a concerted, engineered attack from right-wing leaders, including Julius Malema.
The federation said its enemies are attacking the National Union of Mineworkers because that is the heart of the organisation.
Cosatu president Sdumo Dlamini said they are the victim of an organised plan.
"Here we're facing an orchestrated, planned political agenda to weaken Cosatu."
Cosatu's general secretary Zwelinzima Vavi said Malema is behind this.
"Those who have been presenting himself as the champion the most marginalised despite his own personal circumstances."
The federation said leaders could not attend the memorial service at Markiana because it was too dangerous for them to go.
