Kallis considered quitting series for me - Boucher
Retired Proteas player Mark Boucher said his colleague Jacques Kallis has been a true mate.
CAPE TOWN - Former Proteas wicketkeeper Mark Boucher on Wednesday revealed that his close friend Jacques Kallis considered returning home from the England tour in solidarity with him.
A freak accident severely damaged Boucher's left eye which left him with impaired vision.
In his first exclusive radio interview with the Ryan O'Connor Breakfast Show on KFM, Boucher revealed the injury that ended his career left Kallis so distraught that he very nearly returned home.
Kallis proved instrumental in securing Proteas victory over England on Monday that saw them rise to the top of the world rankings.
Kallis and Captain Graeme Smith celebrated by revealing a message on their shirts which read, "We we miss you Bouch!"
Boucher said he was very moved by their dedication.
"Both of the guys were by my side most of the time. Kallis considered coming back with me which shows the signs of a true mate."
