CAPE TOWN - Western Province coach Allister Coetzee on Friday said Demetri Catrakilis' good goal kicking ratio makes him the obvious choice to start at fly-half.

Catrakilis is selected ahead of Kurt Coleman and Gary van Aswegen for the weekend clash against Griquas.

First choice number 10 Burton Francis is out with a knee injury.

Coetzee said Catrakilis is the best number 10 at the moment.

"I think Demetri is quite a prolific goalkicker and he has played in Currie Cup before so he was the obvious choice."

Coetzee said van Aswegen needs to get some game time at club level before making a return to the Province first team.

"I think Gary van Aswegen needs a bit of game time. He needs to play in this level to ensure his match sharpness is there."

Kickoff is at 3pm.
