DA concerned about water report
The report reveals 13 out of 17 sewage plants in Tshwane have increased their risk rating.
CAPE TOWN - The Democratic Alliance (DA) said on Sunday, it had raised the possible water contamination issue in Tshwane with the city for the past 18 years.
The DA is concerned about the findings of an interim progress report released by the Department of Water Affairs a few months ago.
The report reveals 13 out of 17 sewage plants in the city have increased their risk rating from 61 percent in 2011 to 71 percent in 2012.
Although the City of Tshwane has made budget adjustments to deal with the issue, the DA's Darryl Moss believes it is not enough.
"Suddenly over the last 12 -24 months they're starting to understand what kind of whirlwind they're about to reap and they are starting do something about it.
"They are understanding this too late though."
