As icy weather heads our way for the weekend, the search will continue on Friday for a paramedic presumed to have drowned in flood waters in the Langeberg area.

CAPE TOWN - As icy weather heads our way for the weekend, the search will continue on Friday for a paramedic presumed to have drowned in flood waters in the Langeberg area.

Miriam Cekiso was driving an emergency vehicle when she was swept off the road by heavy rains in Montague on Tuesday.

The ambulance the woman was driving has been recovered in the Kogmanskloof River near Montague.

She went missing on Tuesday morning en route to Ashton.

It is believed the vehicle was swept away by heavy rains and flood waters.

Metro EMS's Keri Davids said: "It is no longer a rescue but is now being considered as a recovery. It is also a SAPS crime scene. The reason we are still in the vicinity is because our teams don't want to go home [until Cekiso is found]."
