CAPE TOWN - New Ajax Cape Town player Koen van de Laak on Wednesday said he joined the team because he likes adventure.

The 29-year-old Dutchman joined from Groningen after his contract expired.

Van de Laak will be looking to impress his new coach should he play against Supersport United in their opening league match.

He said Ajax is a great club to add to his resume.

"I like adventure so my decision was not only based on football but I saw it as an opportunity to develop myself and learn about other cultures. Ajax Cape Town is a well organised club, you can compare it to the teams in Holland.

The midfielder said he is hoping to make his own mark in the team.

"I hope to contribute to the team's success and I'm looking forward to the challenge."

The new Premier Soccer League season kicks off on Friday.
