AfriForum to take Makhado municipality to court
AfriForum will take the Makhado Municipality to court over its alleged failure to provide water to residents.
JOHANNESBURG - AfriForum is pushing ahead with plans to take a Limpopo municipality to court for its alleged failure to provide water to residents.
The group said the Makhado Municipality has not provided community members with basic services.
The local and district municipality had until Thursday to rectify the problem.
AfriForum's Willie Spies said they plan to lodge an application in the North Gauteng High Court next week.
"We believe that there needs to be an intervention from the judiciary. If it is possible to compel them to replace infrastructure so be it."
Meanwhile, the ANC Youth League maintains it will go ahead with its protests in the Western Cape.
The youth league accuses the DA-led government of not providing basic services to townships.
The league has threatened to make the province and the City of Cape Town ungovernable.
