The search for a CPT paramedic whose ambulance veered off the road in heavy rains continues.
CAPE TOWN - The search for a missing paramedic whose ambulance was swept away following heavy downpours in Montagu on Tuesday, entered its second day on Wednesday.
The operation was temporarily suspended on Tuesday.
Miriam Cekiso was driving an emergency vehicle when she was swept off the road by heavy rains while on a bridge in Montagu on Tuesday.
Rescue teams are searching for her in the Keisie River.
EMS spokesperson Keri Davids said they hope to find the missing 30-year-old.
"We do hope for the best, she is one of our staff members. We are hoping to find something."
She said divers would try and enter the waters again on Wednesday.
"They will do an air-search again, the rescue helicopter will go out and search the waters to see if they can see either the practitioner or the ambulance, and then the divers will get into the water from there."
