Boucher speaks about injury
Former cricketer Mark Boucher says the past few weeks have been very difficult for him.
CAPE TOWN - Former wicketkeeper Mark Boucher on Wednesday said the past few weeks have been very difficult, both mentally and physically.
He addressed the media for the first time since he sustained a serious eye injury in a warm-up game ahead of the Proteas' series against England.
In July, Boucher's eyeball was lacerated by a bail.
"I've had two major operations and four blood draining operation in the past three weeks."
While he appreciates messages of sympathy, Boucher said he does not want people to feel sorry for him.
"This could have happened earlier on in my career. I am grateful and I feel blessed that I've had an amazing career."
The former cricketer also thanked the public for their support.
