Mokoena finishes 8th
Medal hopeful Khotso Mokoena overstepped the marker thrice in the high jump final.
LONDON - South Africa's hopes of another medal have taken a knock after Khotso Mokoena overstepped the marker in the finals of the men's high jump on Saturday night.
Mokoena was a bitterly disappointed with his performance.
The athlete registered only one jump of 7.93m which was enough to sneak him into the final 8 and earned him another three attempts.
But he overstepped the marker on every occasion and could not register any jumps thereafter.
The country remains in high spirits as many people are still celebrating Oscar Pistorius' historic achievement.
The Blade Runner qualified for the semifinals of the 400m sprint which takes place on Sunday night.
