Five men were killed and about 17 others injured in an attack in Ngudwini, south of KwaZulu-Natal.
JOHANNESBURG - Five men were killed and about 17 others injured in an attack in Ngudwini, south of KwaZulu-Natal (KZN).
A group of armed suspects allegedly opened fire on people attending a traditional function in the area on Saturday evening.
Injured persons were transported to local hospitals in the area for treatment, said police.
The motive for the attack is still unknown.
Police spokesperson Jay Naicker said detectives had to return to the scene on Sunday, because it was too dark to inspect the scene and collect evidence on Saturday.
He said police would be able to determine what calibre bullets were used in the attack once they re-visited the crime scene.
Police are hopeful further investigations will lead to the arrests of the gunmen involved.
