JOHANNESBURG - Premier Soccer League (PSL) Chairman Irvin Khoza on Wednesday assured fans that the league will unveil more sponsors as the season gets underway.

On Tuesday, the PSL announced a three-year sponsorship extension with MTN for the Top-8 competition amid rumours that the soccer body is facing a sponsorship crisis.

Orlando Pirates are the MTN8 defending champions.

Khoza said the delayed announcement is intentional.

"It was a strategic call to give space to maximise on the announcement and get the people talking."

Khoza said the league is in healthy shape.

"We want to give every sponsor the necessary media space, because we don't want to dilute the impact of the announcement. The marketing side is very important and the sponsors need to get returns on their investment."

The new season will kick off at the end of August.
