Malema still influential - analyst
Malema is currently in London, where he criticised President Jacob Zuma.
JOHANNESBURG - Expelled ANC Youth League (ANCYL) leader Julius Malema will still be pulling the strings of the organisation from behind the scenes, independent analyst Somadoda Fikeni said on Wednesday.
The ANCYL on Tuesday told Eyewitness News that Malema's deputy Ronald Lamola was installed as acting president.
Lamola was put in charge of the League after the ANC banned him from attending National Executive Committee (NEC) meetings, if he did not formally take on the title of president.
Fikeni said this does not put Malema out of the picture.
"One would imagine that informally, Malema will be interacting with the League."
Malema is currently in London, where he criticised President Jacob Zuma in several media interviews.
