Banyana out of London Olympics
Banyana Banyana will return back home on Thursday.
CAPE TOWN - Banyana Banyana coach Joseph Mkhonza on Tuesday said they have redeemed themselves with a goalless draw against reigning world champions Japan.
The South African women's side however returns home on Thursday morning having lost their first two matches.
Mkhonza said they were below par early in the tournament.
"We thought we could redeem ourselves in this game because in the past two games we did not do well. The girls stuck to the game plan from start to finish."
Mkhonza said finishing let them down in all three games and resulted in them missing out on qualifying for the next round.
"We created chances but we failed to score."
