SA men’s hockey team suffer defeat

The South African team lost 6-0 to the Aussies.

LONDON - The South African men's hockey team on Monday suffered a heavy defeat to Australia in their opening match at the London 2012 Olympics.

Jamie Dwyer started on three goals to help world number one Australia to a comfortable 6-0 win over South Africa in their group match clash.

On Sunday, the SA women's team went down 7-1 to Argentina in their opening match.

The South African hockey teams will have to pull up their socks if they want to be seen as serious medal contenders.
