WC to build 81 new schools
WC Education Department said on Friday the construction of 81 new schools will improve learner performance.
CAPE TOWN - Western Cape education MEC Donald Grant believes the construction of 81 new schools will result in improved learner performance.
The schools will be built over the next 3 financial years at a cost of R3 billion.
It comes at a time when the department is taking flak over its plans to close 27 schools at the end of this year.
Grant said they want to provide excellent education to all learners.
"I have no doubt that it's going to lead to better quality of outcomes, especially in the secondary school field where we have improved retention rates. We want more maths and science graduates coming through the system."
Public Works MEC Robin Carisle admitted getting the job done will be difficult.
