Eastern Cape ANC hits out at Malema
The EC ANC launched a scathing attack on expelled ANCYL leader Julius Malema.
JOHANNESBURG - The Eastern Cape ANC on Friday launched a scathing attack on expelled ANC Youth League (ANCYL) leader Julius Malema.
According to the provincial branch, the former politician has been speaking "garbage" about President Jacob Zuma.
They went on to say Malema amassed millions of rand for personal use, while claiming to speak for the poor.
The Eastern Cape ANC also lambasted struggle veteran Winnie Madikizela-Mandela.
Both she and Malema have criticised Zuma's polygamous lifestyle.
ANC provincial secretary Mlibo Qoboshiyane said Malema is using "gutter tactics" that are "bordering on insult".
He added they expect more from Madikizela-Mandela.
"She has a duty and obligation as a National Executive Committee (NEC) member and Member of Parliament, to build more peace."
This statement could be seen as the provincial structure backing Zuma ahead of the ANC's December elective conference in Mangaung.
